Default Music control question

I got my first android yesterday, a Samsung Galaxy S 2 Titanium. I upgraded from an iPhone 4 (HUGE upgrade, I hated the iPhone, but I never knew it was this bad). My question is... Is there a way to easily pause and skip tracks without having to go to the music app, or use a music widget? For example, on the iPhone, I could be checking my email, and just double tap the home button to bring up the music menu. Is there a way to do that on the android, or do I have to use the widget or music app every time? Thanks in advance.

There are a couple of ways, not sure if they are what you are looking for but I'll explain nonetheless.

Probably the easiest way to control music is via the notifications screen, with music playing or the music app active you will find control buttons in the notifications screen. Put your finger on the statusbar (black bar at top with clock), swype down to open notifications. Here you will be able to play, pause, search and skip songs. Tapping on the album art will open the music app for more access.

The other option is using the home button, long pressing the home button will display a pop-up of the six most recently used applications. Here you can tap the music app to open it making use of the phones multitasking abilities.
If the music app isn't displayed here because you have accessed other apps and so long as the music player is active you can select Task manager from the recently used apps pop-up and access the music application that way.

Hope this helps.

First, thanks for the reply and the help.

I understand what you mean by swyping down to open the notifications, but I don't see any music control buttons. It shows the name of the track, which I can tap to open the music player, but that's more of a hassle than it was with the iPhone. Here's a vid of what it shows me on the galaxy, and on the iPhone for comparison.

That's weird, what SGS2 do you have and what version of Android?

Here's my notification screen with the music player active.

EDIT- Just reread your OP and you have a Titanium but I'm in the UK and not sure what the differences are? I own a Samsung Galaxy S2 but a GT-I9100.

This is the T-Mobile version. Model number SGH-T989, Android version 2.3.6.

By the way, what application is it that tells you the cpu load for each core? I want to get that as well.

In that case, I'm sorry but I am at a lose as to why you don't have this feature. I'm still running Android 2.3.4 and I can't see it being removed so likely to be a version difference? Sorry I can't help more, maybe somebody with the Titanium version can be more helpful!

The app is CPU Usage monitor, available on the AM.

I found a solution. My phone came with 2 music apps. One was the actual droid music app, and the other one is the t-mobile music app. Apparently, t-mobile took that functionality out of the android music app and put it into their app to force me to use it. But whatever, I guess it'll have to do until I can root my phone. I forget which version I have, but it can't be rooted at the moment.

Glad you've found a temporary work-around mate, I can't advise on rooting your version of the GS2 as I know nothing about it but hopefully a root method will be available soon.
I really hate that Google and OEM's allow providers/carriers to mess with the OS of Android phones, IMO it fragments a community and makes a forum like this very difficult.

Sorry I couldn't be of anymore help mate!
