Easiest easy us to copy & paste in Windows explorer, first...

Menu> Settings> Applications> Development> tick USB debugging...

Now connect the phone to your PC, a notification will appear in your statusbar so pull it down to reveal notifications and tap it to mount.
Your PC should now detect the phone, if you have an external SD card in the phone your PC will probably detect two mounts; one will be the internal SD card (USB storage) and the other the external SD card. Be sure to "Remove safely" before unplugging the phone from your PC and you will only need to unmount one and the other will unmount automatically once the first is unmounted.

Hope that helps.

Another Rookie!
I have read you helpful reply and did as instructed. However nothing happens when I plug into my computer. The USB debugging is permanently on in my settings too.
Please help. My brother lies far away and wants me to send him these photos.
I have only had my S2 for a short time - so am pretty Green...

Have you tried using KIES Wi-Fi?

Just start the application and it will give you a http address, enter that in your PC browser url box and it will show the contents of the phone storage...

To transfer pictures from Samsung Galaxy S2 to computer, you need to have an USB cable which you connect to your phone and laptop. You will see an installation bubble pop up in the bottom right of your screen. On your Android phone pull down the notification window and tap USB connected. Tap Mount on the notification window that appears. Find the removable storage drive and drag and drop the desired files to the drive. In your phones notification window tap Turn off USB storage and then unplug your phone.

try to use Jihosoft Android Photo Transfer. Jihosoft Android Photo Transfer makes it convenient for you to transfer and backup pictures from any Android phone to computer, such as Samsung Galaxy S4, S3, Note II, and more.

Helpful. You can also use certain Android Manage Tool for transferring data from Android phone to computer, such as Android Manager, Android File Manager, and so on.

Actually, transferring pics from Samsung Galaxy S2 to computer can be an easy stuff if you use a recovery tool to finish it. First, recover deleted pictures from Samsung Galaxy as well as the exited one. They will be scanned out on your computer, all you need to do is click "Recover" to save them on computer. Now you have transferred your pics from Samsung Galaxy to computer.

Connect the phone via usb cable (the one you use to charge it more than likely). On the phone itself you can go into settings and for usb connection set it to "storage". You also will likely get a dialog box pop up when you plug it in asking you what you want to do with the files. Don't sync. Choose open folders with Windows Explorer. The phone will be mounted as a lettered drive. You can go into Computer find the phone/drive and browse the files like a hard drive. Pictures are usually in a folder called DCIM. You can also just do a search on the drive for any and all .jpg files and that will lead you to the pictures. Copy and paste them onto the laptop hard drive. The screen shots below show how I get to the pictures on my Android phone. This is Windows 7 but the idea is the same. Do not choose the option to sync. Just go to the drive letter assigned to the phone. There may also be pictures on the storage card and you can browse to those as well. In my case the pictures are in the DCIM/MEDIA100 folder in the main phone storage.
