Re: Samsung Offers Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Upgrade for GALAXY S II
No problems at all mate. I agree it would be nice to know what the upgrade was actually called before it happening, I couldn't find any info on it when I was debating doing it so was happy to help someone trying to find the info about the same thing. Hope it all goes well for you.
I have noticed a couple of things since I did the upgrade.
1. Samsung re-installed Navigon (I deleted it prior to this) and now you can't even uninstall it from the application list. I may just delete the folders because I don't use it.
2. All apps seem to run smoother.
3. Only 1 app I had to uninstall called "Who called me". The phone would repeatedly be unresponsive and finally I'd get a popup about the app not responding, so I just uninstalled it. Other than that all other apps working.
4. The dialer includes a contacts button and the contacts includes a dialer button so you can now switch between them like you could with the old 2.3.6.
If you want to take the plunge and install a launcher, like I've said previously, I highly recommend the Apex Launcher. I'm not big into recommending too many apps, but that one really makes your phone use ICS as it should.
