On mine, when i turn the screen on from the side button i get a load of streaks on one side for a split second before the screen wakes up.

But i think thats an issue with my phone, because it happened with all the roms i installed over the last few days.

There are a few minor issues, LPQ if using a 3rd party messaging app ie Handcent, Go SMS or AOSP Messaging, the phone sends the SMS twice?? Not present in LP7.

In the stock browser there's an option missing, instead of saying "Find on page" it says "Unfortunately, %1$s has stopped working...".

The homescreen & home button suffer from lag in LPQ, again not present in LP7.

There see some other minor bugs, can't think off the top of my head. I think the LP7 update or another will be pushed out to other regions over time.

Well... where do i start... I'll be honest, i went on and on about this update for about 2 months since i first heard that it was coming, they made such a fuss as i kept seeing it all posted over youtube and all of the phone news sites raving about how brilliant it was, so when i could finally update my phone i couldnt wait to do it!...... Now i miss the gingerbread, Oh how i took it for granted!

firstly the new unlock system, whoever designed that rubbish obviously doesnt have 1) pockets and 2) any kids! My 9 month old daughter can easily unlock and call whoever she desires, Epscially when it comes to the second point.

Secondly the tap and speak system or 'drive mode' keeps popping up on the screen, giving my 9 month old the random options to call people off of my call list, you dont even have to say the persons name right as we found out when she just said 'dada' and it decided to call one of my friends!

Thirdly, when i charge my phone, it states that the voltage is too high going to the phone even though im using the samsung charger that came with the phone and the only way to get rid of the annoying pop up that reminds you every 5 minutes is to hope that rebooting your phone does the trick, if not you will have a constant reminder that the voltage was too high! and it will sometimes fail to even charge your phone because of it.

fouth, The default text language, no matter how many times i select normal text language it keeps asking me, and following that you had wish on your lucky stars that you dont want to search something! because unless you stand there for 20 minutes begging for it to search something new your stuck with old searches you have done, as the keyboard doesnt work unless you load then exit the programme several times hoping to fool the system.

Fithly, It breaths google down your throat, along with the ics update also came alot of unwanted apps on my phone, so after a long update you have to sit there and remove a load afterwards, along with removing widgets that i actually liked, and wont allow me to restore them onto the new update.

Im now stuck with a phone that i used to like, which i now have to charge twice or three times a day if i want to play any of the apps it will allow me to play, along with having to reboot it at least 4 times, no wonder they put a restart button on it! This phone now gets more attention than my 9 month old daughter! Now looking into trying to get my beloved Gingerbread back! Or failing that selling it and going to the iphone 4s!!

Re: Ice Cream Sandwich Upgrade problems?

I am also having problems with I.C.S. I upgraded my new phone 2 weeks ago and the first thing it did after upgrade was to freeze the screen during a call, and then turn itself off. At first I thought it was me, but the problem has persisted. Sometimes the phone freezes and I have to pull the battery out and restart the phone in this manner.

Second issue is the battery. It returns a message that the CHARGER HAS PAUSED. BATTERY IS OVERCHARGED. I can no longer charge the battery to 100%, but only to 70% otherwise the warning appears constantly.

I want to undo the change but I am not savvy enough to do this, so the other solution is to return the mobile to Vodafone Spain and demand they undo the upgrade. Ice Cream Sandwich has literally melted the functionability of my phone so that it is now little more than an expensive paperweight. Gingerbread had not caused me any problems, so I caution anyone who is going to upgrade their software. BEWARE!!!!!

Re: Ice Cream Sandwich Upgrade problems?

I recently upgraded to ICS (via carrier) on my Galaxy SII and I am having loads of problems; reboot loops, phone switching itself off randomly, battery overheating, difficulty with turning Wi-Fi on, TW Launcher sometimes working after reboot, sometimes freezing. It's driving me nuts, because gingerbread was fine and after all I had heard about ICS, I thought why not? Apparently, there is no return to Gingerbread possible either, so very frustrated. Also, Handcent sms shows conversation history ONLY after entering the app, "going back" and re-entering the app for a second time.

I have read that a factory reset without reinstalling the apps is best move forward (apprently doing it 3 times in succession to be on the really safe side) and then reinstalling app by app and testing each to determine whether or not, they are "compatible" with ICS or not.

I have also read on a UK forum or website, that other people have experienced similar problems.

ANy ideas what to do?

Yea I got problems too.

Main issues:

For some reason the signal is poor. Always got the best signal in my house, now im lucky to get a bar (3g doesnt even work at home).

Another issue is with WIFI. Worked perfect before and on every other phone I had. Now it constantly reconnects. So I could use it for about 30 seconds, then it would be slow and id notice the wifi symbol had gone and I had been dc'd. A few seconds later it would come back on, annoying

Okay so Samsung didn't inform people properly, when updating to ICS a "Factory data reset" is highly recommended.
As mentioned by CNJ above, apps and data from Gingerbread can have adverse effects on ICS so I recommend this as the first point of call for all users experiencing issues with the update.
You will lose any unsynced user data like contacts, calendar events unless synced with Google and you will loose apps and their data like games etc.
There are applications available to back up your device like My back up and if your rooted Titanium Back Up, only the latter will be able to back up app data like Angry Birds etc.
For non rooted devices I'd recommend installing two really usefull apps:

SMS Backup & Restore by Ritesh Sahu - SMS back up and restore application, with the addon you can schedule back ups and sync with Dropbox.

App List Backup by Pun Software - with this you can easily remember what apps you had installed in your device before the reset. Open the app before the reset and select Back up, the so generates a list which it access to your SD card. Once the device is reset, instal App List Backup from the Play store and launch for that list to reinstall your apps. Tapping each app in the list will send you to the market.

The are other applications on Google Play, just search.

There are newer versions of Samsung ICS being released to iron out some of the bugs so if you haven't already, try an OTA update search or KIES to see if your device has an updated firmware release.

If you wanted you could update yourself to a Generic Samsung ICS if your region or carrier/provider hasn't provided a recent update.

As for going back to Gingerbread, it is totally possible although as with the above if not researched/done properly it could damage your device.

Any questions, please ask?
