Internal Memory Storage Recovery

Hi. I'm sure this is a common problem but I couldn't find anything specifically related to my problem. Basically I accidentally deleted a video I took on the weekend from my phone that I really want back, and wondered whether this was possible? I'm positive all my media files are saved on internal storage (since I don't have a memory card. Is it gone for good or can it be retrieved. Any help will be much appreciated.

Re: Internal Memory Storage Recovery

You could try using a data recovery program on your computer to try and recover the file. I have used Stellar Phoenix Data Recovery in the past to recover hard drive failures. I tested it with my phone and was able to recover a recently deleted file. However, if the memory storage space that your video was on has already been used again by the phone, then your video will be gone for good. Let me know if you need any help with the data recovery.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. I'll try this later when I get home. I'm assuming it's free software I can download off the web?

OK so I've downloaded Stellar Phoenix and it's ready to use, but I need a bit of help on the next step. How do I go about recovering my internal phone data? Many thanks.

Re: Internal Memory Storage Recovery

Connect the phone to your computer with the usb cable and put it in usb storage mode so that your computer can read the internal file system. Next, start Stellar Phoenix and select the drive that your phone represents. Click on scan and wait for the scan to complete (this may take a while). Then comb through the recovered files for the one that got deleted. If you find it, select it and copy it to your computer, then back over to your phone.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for that! Quick question - I've connected the phone to the computer, selected 'open device to view files' and then selected the folder 'usb storage' (which appears empty). Was this what you meant by entering usb storage mode?

To enter USB storage you first need to go into settings and find the icon for USB Debugging, tick it.
Now when you connect your phone to your PC an icon will appear in the statusbar, pull down to open notifications and select the connect USB notification.
Your PC will probably give a list of options at this stage, if one is the recovery software then select that, otherwise X out of the list and open the recovery software program. Now you need to find the drive you phone if under, it'll possibly be f,g,h...
Select one and if you see the files from your phone internal memory that were you need to scan with you recovery software.

EDIT- You may be better off searching with Windows explorer beforehand so you know which drive is your phones internal storage.

Hope that helps.
